Myofascial release techniques incorporate methods to separate the muscle from the fascia. The fascia is the covering that separates muscles and organs. The fascia enables muscles to glide smoothly and independently to perform a desired function. There are times during chronic pain and/or dysfunction where the muscle adheres to the fascia and/or the fascia adheres to other structures which limit the muscle's ability to function flawlessly.
